Consima Newsletter – April 2011

The first quarter of the year has come to an end – already?! The realization of this fact gave me quite a jolt and threw me in a mood of sober reflection. Looking back at the past three months, what could I say were my achievements? How far had I progressed or stayed on track with my New Year’s resolutions…?

Could that be the reason why April 1 is called April Fool’s Day? Could it be because people suddenly wake up from the slumber of the past three months, to find that the year has progressed with giant strides and that all the good intentions of January 1 are beginning to slip or are long forgotten…? Just a thought! But if you have any information on the subject, please let me know as I have wondered about the worldwide observance of April Fool’s Day for quite some time.

One of our high points recorded, which I am pleased to share with you is the startup of the CONSIMA Protocol & Finishing School and of course this Newsletter! Slowly, but surely our fame is spreading and we are receiving some very positive feedback. It is election-time, which means very soon we will have a new crop of political office holders at the helm of affairs, who will be eager to face their new challenges and to ‘get it right.’

For all we know, you, reading this newsletter right now, may be one of them! Bearing this in mind and in order not to lose time, which is of the essence, here are five (5) quick tips and tricks on how to create a powerful first impression:

  • Dress for success – The secret is knowing exactly what to wear and when to wear it. There are a number of pitfalls that can totally destroy your image.
  • Be confident – This can be tricky because over-confidence is as bad as displaying a lack of it or being nervous. Knowing how to strike the right balance is key.
  • Mind your body language – What you don’t say often speaks louder than words. Everything about you speaks. Ensure you convey the right message.
  • Be prepared – As the old Boys’ Scout motto implies, do not allow yourself to be taken by surprise. Appeal to four of the five senses: sight, smell, touch, and sound (hearing). The truth of the matter is that it is an immense advantage to be etiquette savvy, regardless of whether you are in the public glare or not. Knowing what to do in any given situation makes you stand out. This in turn will make others form positive opinions about you and before long, you
will be favored above your peers.
  • Practicing good manners should be a way of life. A little attentiveness, integrity, respect, and consideration for others, and the right attitude, can change a nation.

Registration for all courses is now open. Please watch out for our ‘Summertime Special’ vacation courses for children and teens!

As always, Consima Protocol & Finishing School wishes you the best of the Season!
